Course Overview
These units of competency involve the skills and knowledge required to maintain and repair network assets for wastewater and to construct and install wastewater collection assets.
They include conducting maintenance and repair on a variety of wastewater distribution assets including pipes, drains and wastewater collection assets. It also includes reviewing, reporting and recording work and preparing for work, confirming work quality and finalising work. It also includes excavating, preparing trenches, installing or placing prefabricated components and completing documentation.
These units also apply to those working as field staff with specific responsibility for ensuring repair and maintenance of wastewater assets is completed in a safe and timely manner. Those undertaking these units would work under appropriate supervision, while performing routine tasks, in a familiar context, and ensuring minimum damage to the environment.

NWPNET040 & NWPNET050 Combined Face-to-Face Training Session
This half-day face-to-face session, running from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, covers the skills and knowledge required to maintain, repair, and construct wastewater network assets. The practical assessment and performance evidence are collected through infield performance and workplace evidence reports. These units of competency focus on maintaining and repairing wastewater network assets (NWPNET040) and constructing and installing wastewater collection assets (NWPNET050), ensuring practical, hands-on learning directly relevant to real-world tasks.
Prerequisites
None.
You will need:
- Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- 100 points ID (e.g. Passport & drivers licence 0R Birth Certificate & drivers licence -check web for combinations OR check online for other options). One must be a photo ID.
Certification
Upon satisfactory completion of knowledge and workplace practical assessments, participants will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the units of competency NWPNET040 - Maintain and Repair Network Assets for Wastewater and NWPNET050 - Construct and Install Wastewater Collection Assets.

Course Duration
6 hours face to face - Performance and skills are assessed through the collection of evidence, including infield performance and workplace evidence reports. Students have up to 3 months to submit their workplace evidence reports, with extensions available if required.
