Course Overview
This intensive three-day course is designed for individuals seeking to obtain their TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck. This course is structured to provide comprehensive training over two days, followed by a rigorous assessment on the third day. Participants will gain hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of forklift operations, safety protocols, and legal requirements.
Course Objectives:
- To equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
- To understand and apply the occupational health and safety regulations and workplace procedures related to forklift operations.
- To prepare participants for the National High Risk Work (HRW) Licence assessment for forklift trucks.
Who Should Attend: This course is ideal for individuals seeking to enter roles that require forklift operation in warehouses, construction sites, and other industrial environments. It is also suitable for existing operators looking to formalize their skills with a nationally recognized licence.
Course Content:
- Introduction to forklift types and their applications.
- Understanding the legislative framework and safety requirements for forklift operation.
- Conducting pre-operational checks and routine maintenance.
- Operating the forklift – including maneuvering, stacking, and destacking in varied conditions.
- Identifying hazards and implementing control measures.
- Efficiently handling loads and ensuring the stability of materials.
- Emergency procedures and accident prevention.
Assessment: On the final day, participants will undergo a comprehensive assessment comprising both theoretical and practical components. This will evaluate their understanding and ability to safely operate a forklift truck in accordance with Australian standards.
Final Assessment MUST be conducted by an accredited SafeWork NSW certified assessor to be certified for a High Risk Work (HRW) WP class licence.

What you need
- the following forms provided by your assessor:
- the 'Application for a national licence to perform high risk work – New application' form
- the original orange and white copy of your Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA)
- proof of identity – see Evidence of identity – PDF
- a passport-quality photograph with your name, date of birth and signature on the back (verified by your assessor)
- your current HRW licence (if you have one)
- your payment.
How to apply
You must apply within 60 days from the date of issue of your NSA.
- Complete the application form provided by your assessor, but do not sign it.
- Gather together:
- the orange and white NSA
- the identity documents and photograph your assessor verified
- your unsigned application form
- your current HRW licence (if applicable)
- your method of payment.
- Select the 'Find an Australia Post office' button.
- Select 'More services' and filter by:
- 'Identity and document services'
- 'Licence to perform high risk work – NSW (New and Renewal)'.
- Visit your chosen Post Office and lodge your application.
