Course Overview
This comprehensive course is designed for individuals in the civil construction sector seeking proficiency in emergency response and rescue operations. Participants will master the essential elements of effective rescue preparedness, response, and post-operation procedures. Through hands-on training, they will learn to interpret rescue operation briefings, select appropriate equipment, and choose personal protective gear tailored to specific incidents.
The course places a strong emphasis on risk assessment at the scene, fostering effective communication among team members, and implementing robust risk mitigation processes. Participants will navigate scenarios where hazards and environmental conditions are identified, controlled, and reported in compliance with Work, Health, and Safety (WHS)/Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards and organisational policies.
Practical skills include gaining access to incidents using various techniques and equipment, executing rescue procedures under the direction of supervisors, and safely extricating casualties. Continuous monitoring of the incident scene to prevent injuries, implementing hygiene precautions, and reporting the need for additional personnel or specialist equipment are integral components of the training.
The course covers the conclusion of rescue operations, including preserving incident scenes, recovering, cleaning, and servicing equipment, following decontamination procedures, and actively participating in operational debriefings. Participants will develop proficiency in completing operational documentation, including post-incident reports, ensuring comprehensive and accurate records.
Upon completion, participants will be well-equipped to contribute effectively to civil construction rescue operations, ensuring the safety of themselves, their team members, and potential casualties while adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
