Course Overview
This comprehensive Overhead Powerlines Training course (Formerly called Overhead Powerline Awareness), aligned with the unit UETDREL006 - Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker (Operate or Observe Plant Near Overhead Electrical Apparatus), is designed for non-electrical workers operating near live electrical infrastructure. The program focuses on equipping participants with the essential skills and knowledge to work safely and in compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, including maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SADs).
Participants will learn to prepare work plans, use appropriate plant, tools, and PPE, identify hazards, and implement effective control measures. This course emphasises the role of safety observers (or overhead spotters), effective communication strategies, and incident response protocols to ensure safety when working around live electrical apparatus.

Prerequisites
Minimum age if applicable
You will need:
- Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- 100 points ID (e.g. Passport & drivers licence 0R Birth Certificate & drivers licence -check web for combinations OR check online for other options). One must be a photo ID.
- PPE (if applicable)
- Hard Hat
- Eye Protection/safety glasses
- High Visibility Retro Reflective Vest
- Steel capped boots
Certification
The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a
licence/registration to practice in the workplace. Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit
