Course Overview
Pipeline Training in association with MTS provide training to MTS staff and contractors required to work in a supervision role within an electrical substation.
The training program encompasses; working safely, implementing safety procedures and process, sequencing work activities, providing guidance and work instructions to others, ensuring job requirements are met and maintaining necessary work documentation.
A portion of the learning takes place and is consolidated through on the job learning in the workplace.
Metro Trains Sydney Electrical Safety Rules sets out how we work safely around electrical equipment. As a person entering substations or HV areas you have a responsibility to read and understand relevant sections of the ESR. These sections include:
- Hazards and Warnings
- Access to Substations
- Safe Approach Distances
Important: Substations include, RMU Rooms, and 1500VDC Link Switch Rooms
The course is contextualised for electrical workers undertaking the supervision of other workers in an MTS electrical substation and developed to meet the unit of competency requirements for UEECD0047 Supervise and coordinate energy sector work activities.
Learners who satisfactorily complete the training and assessment are awarded the nationally recognised unit of competency UEECD0047 Supervise and coordinate energy sector work activities (MTS Substation Supervision).
To undertake the on-the-job learning required in the training program learners are required to be working in an electrical role that would allow them access to an MTS electrical substation and the opportunity to supervise other workers in that workplace.
Prospective learners should review MTS requirements to determine their eligibility for substations supervision certification prior to undertaking this training course.
