Course Overview
This course is designed for individuals seeking to acquire the skills and knowledge required to operate an excavator safely and efficiently in a civil construction environment. It covers the essential aspects of excavator operations, including planning and preparing for operations, conducting machine pre-checks, operating the excavator, lifting, carrying and placing materials, and carrying out machine operator maintenance. The course is aligned with national regulatory requirements for operating heavy machinery and aims to foster responsible, safety-conscious operators who can contribute effectively to their workplaces.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

The course duration is typically 1-3 days, including both theoretical instruction and practical training and is dependant on the current experience and skill of the participant. Experienced and skilled operators will be ready for Assessment on Day one and Novice operators will need more time to develop their knowledge and skills and may Attempt assessment on the 2nd or 3rd day. Delivery formats may vary between intensive workshops, part-time schedules, or customised training programs to suit employer and participant needs.
