This unit supports the skills and knowledge required for field and operational staff with responsibility for ensuring that water distribution assets are constructed and installed in a safe and timely manner.

This course describes the skills & knowledge required to construct and install water distribution assets and comprises the following learning outcomes:

• Plan & prepare for construction & installation work
• Perform site checks to prevent damage to other utilities
• Select and fit PPE
• Excavate, prepare and lay bedding or foundation for water pipes
• Inspect pipes and fittings
• Install or place prefabricated components
• Backfill excavations according to specifications
• Check water quality testing results
• Restore worksite and complete applicable documentation
